Re: CoQ10 REFERENCES

Friday, February 26th, 2010

<<There are also aspects of CoQ10 which are not conducive to it being
included in standard medical practice:>>

Colin, I think a big part of the problem, which was addressed in the consumer
magazine article I also posted, is that there’s no big pharmaceutical company
promoting CoQ10. Also, at least in the US, physicians tend to practice herd
medicine and rigidly adhere to community standards of care.

Even though you relate one incident in which someone complained of a
CoQ10-triggered headache, the research indicates that it is very safe. (It’s
somewhere in those 2,000+ references). CoQ10 has an essential role in
stimulating ATP production in the mitochondria.

My impression is that the pharmaceutical companies are far more aggressive in
promoting drugs over natural substances in the US. In Japan and much of
Europe, I’m told, CoQ10 is far more acceptable.

I generally run into two types of docs. Those who don’t want to do anything
that’s not "acceptable" and those who want to do everything they can to help
a patient. But with CoQ10, there’s one other thing. It competes against much
more profitable drugs and even more profitable surgeries.

Bell's Palsy & Acupuncture

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Has anyone had any luck treating Bell’s Palsy with Acupuncture?  If
so, what were the details of the treatment?  Were any herbs or other
remedies taken along with the acutreatment?  How long did the process
take before positive results occured?  Did a full reversal of the
symptoms occur?
Thanks in advance!
Carol

I finally found it!

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I’d been looking for something that would TRULY help my energy level, and
get rid of the afternoon slumps. I also wanted to feel mentally clear,
without that "fogginess" thhat seemed to be occurring too often as I tried
the latest new protein drink or super vitamin.I didn’t notice any
significant results with anything until I started eating Super Blue Green
Algae. And the good news is that its not a drug or a diet, it’s a pure and
natural food that is so simple, yet the results in the way I feel have
really changed my life.

If you’d like some information on the health food that is taking Boulder,
CO by storm, drop me a line at: P. Jones, 6525 Gunpark Drive, Ste. 150-157,
Boulder, CO 80301. You’ve got to try this stuff!

Foot problem – fallen arches

Friday, February 26th, 2010

A friend of mine has got a chronic fallen arch (sp?) problem with her
feet. The only suggestion she’s had from her doc is to wear the supports,
which she does, but the relief from pain is only short lived.

Does anyone have any ideas about other things she could try? She’s open
to any ideas. She’s only 25, but some days, the pain is so bad that she
can’t even walk up the road to the shops.

Thanks
Dave

Ears STUFFED!!!

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Hi. Excuse me for delurking with such a question, but I am really looking for
anything that will work. I currently have a sinus/ear infection, and while I am
on antibiotics to help the germ part of it, my head is so stuffed that I cannot
hear myself or others well at all anymore. I would be willing to try almost
anything at this point. My ears are just completely blocked and I really need
to hear, at least at work.

Thanks in advance!! I’d appreciate any possibilities.

Re: Eye "floaters"

Friday, February 26th, 2010

KE> Odd, I was told they *are* age related, in that one doesn’t
KE> normally have  enough of them to even notice (or they aren’t big
KE> enough to notice), till you  get older. Anyone have the
KE> definitive story on floaters?

Only that I have always had a large number of them; steadily increasing,
but very noticed from childhood onward. I rather suspect that some of the
apparent increase is a change in the actual number, and some portion of it
is due to an alteration in the strength of the eye’s focusing muscles,
bringing them into clearer view more often.
If they are dead, shed cells, there should be some way to clear them out.

need weightloss info

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I have recently changed to a low-fat all-natural diet and have seen
amazing results in my skin hair complexion and body weight.  I was
wondering however if anyone has info on any natural ways to speed weight
loss… herbs or vitamins or whatever… I take Shaklee and feel I get
all the basic vitamins my body needs… but there may be other vitamins,
minerals herbs etc.. that I could take that would help…. any
ideas…..by the way.. I realize that I have left myself wide open to a
host of people who will try to sell me something… don’t even think
about it.. I won’t under any circumstances send anyone any
money…
However if there are legitimate folks out there who know of healthy ways to
speed weight loss I would really appreciate your input..

Heard of author Dr. Alex Duarte?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

There’s a TV infomercial I’ve just seen promoting the books of Dr. Alex
Duarte, O.D. who writes about alternative medicine, FDA policy, shark
cartilage and related matters.  Has anyone heard of him?  Is anyone
familiar with his work?  He sounds interesting on the TV and gives an 800
number for buying his books, but I can’t tell from his presentation how
reliable his work is.  I’d appreciate any comments.

PROPOSAL: alt.health.policy.drug-approval

Friday, February 26th, 2010

There are many controversies about governmental drug-approval policies.
Many consider a slow, deliberate process necessary to insure public
safety.  Many others claim that excessive obstacles in current procedures
are preventing or dangerously delaying the availability of efficacious
drugs for the treatment of serious and/or life-threatening illnesses.

These controversies are discussed in several newsgroups now, but a
separate newsgroup will enable a focus which this topic deserves.

I look forward to comments on this proposal for creating the newsgroup
alt.health.policy.drug-approval.

PROPOSAL: alt.health.policy.nutrition

Friday, February 26th, 2010

There is some governmental regulation of nutritional supplements.
Current medical research increasingly shows the value of nutrition and
nutrition therapy for human health.  However, many are concerned that
governments over-regulate the availability of these supplements, and some
go as far as to say that vested economic interests have been able to
induce biased government policies.  I propose the creation of
alt.health.policy.nutrition to discuss these issues.

I look forward to comments on this proposal.
