COLLOIDAL SILVER

Colloidal elements are elements which have been broken down into extremely
small positively-charged particles, 0.01 to 0.001 microns, and suspended in
distilled water. Colloidal silver was commonly used until 1938 as an
antibiotic and overall cure-all. In 1938, the Food and Drug Administration
mandated that all prescription drugs be proven safe and effective. This
form of therapy was eventually priced out of the market due to the high
cost of manufacturing. Colloidal silver is still available today, but
maintains the same labeling it had since 1938. (Other pre-1938 drugs
include morphine sulfate and thyroid tablets.) According to SeanTek
Laboratories, a distributor of colloidal silver, a "breakthrough" in the
manufacturing technique has brought the price down to where it can compete
in the "medical marketplace."
In addition to its antibacterial uses, colloidal silver can be used as a
food preservative, digestive aid, and as a water purifier.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
According to a report by L. Delynn Hansen, a doctor from Utah, colloidal
silver interferes with oxygen metabolization and "suffocates" and "kills
all disease-causing organisms." This report comes from an unknown source
and cites many dated references. The same report continues to say that
colloidal silver acts like a "second immune system" and can be used to
treat as well as prevent diseases. In fact, colloidal silver is supposedly
effective against over 650 diseases ranging from appendicitis to malaria.
Of course, HIV/AIDS is included in the list of treatable diseases.
STUDIES
Daryl Tichy, a man from Utah, claims two laboratories have demonstrated
that colloidal silver kills HIV in the test tube. The UCLA Medical Center
is supposedly one of the research sites. However, this work has never been
published and cannot be verified. Colloidal silver has never been studied
in a clinical trial.
SeanTek Laboratories claims their product will prevent opportunistic
infections in addition to killing HIV. Because this product was widely used
over fifty years ago, SeanTek claims that colloidal silver is extremely
safe and will not interact with other drugs.

COMMENT
At face value, colloidal silver may seem like an effective cure-all. There
are no current reputable benefits of colloidal silver for people with
HIV/AIDS, only anecdotal reports from the distributors. There exists very
little current information on the benefits of colloidal silver. Please keep
this in mind when evaluating your treatment options.

Yes, he’d better cite them, since it would be a medical miracle. He
doesn’t seem to be able to tell the difference between a bacteria and a
virus. It is impossible for a compound to have an antibacterial activity
on a virus! It may be a virucide, but that’s another matter. This kind
of basic scientific error should give one pause when evaluating his claims.
Actually, colloidal silver is an old antiseptic. Heavy metals can often
inhibit bacterial growth; mercury compounds are another common heavy
metal antiseptic (ever hear of mercurochrome?)
Many bacteria today are resistant to heavy metal antiseptics, including
silver. I’ll have to go dig up the reference; but a few years ago a
microbiology journal tested several heavy metal antiseptics including
silver for bacterial resistance. A significant number of organisms were
resistant to it.
BTW, like all antiseptics, it is intended for external use only.
Internal use can lead to permanent graying of the skin (a condition
called argyria) because the silver ions migrate to the skin.

Of course there have been reports of this but that is from people who are
providing a product that is not Colloidal Silver and have since been shut
down. If you have read my FAQ carefully we are talking about a Colloid
which is at the molecular level. Colloids with visable silver in them are
not true colloids hence the problems you described.
Colloidal Silver is a pure, all natural substance consisting of
sub-microscopic clusters of silver, held in suspension in pure water by
the electric charge placed on each particle.
Please be aware that as there are different companies, manufactures,
etc., not all products are the same that is why I invite people to do
some research and learn on there own the differences. As with any
commercial product on the market today all buyers must be cautious of
what they purchase and learn about the differences of that particular
product.

proven particularly effective in cases of intestinal troubles. Dr. Henry
Crooks found that Silver in the colloidal state is highly germicidal,
quite harmless to humans and absolutely non-toxic. Rather than in a
chemical compound, the Silver, in the colloidal state, may be applied in
a much more concentrated form, with correspondingly better results. All
fungus, virus, bacterium, streptococcus, staphylococcus, and other
pathogenic organisms are killed in three of four minutes; in fact there
is no microbe known that is not killed by Colloidal Silver in six minutes
or less at a dilution as little as 5 parts per million, though there are
no side effects whatsoever from high concentrations.

Chemistry, recognized Silver for it’s germicidal action, calling a
stabilized form: Mild Silver Protein. There are several forms of Mild
Silver Protein.

Protein is listed for medicinal use, (the "Protein" is the trace used as
a stabilizer)
Ref – 5: The FDA has stated that because Colloidal Silver is ( by fifty
years) a pre-1938 drug, it may continue to be marketed. 13 Sept 91′
letter received from consumer safety officer, Harold Davis, US Food and
Drug Administration. Moreover, the FDA has no jurisdiction regarding a
pure, mineral element.

no toxicity listing for Colloidal Silver, considering it harmless in any

Ref – 7: Dr. Robert Becker "The Body Electric", recognized a correlation
between low Silver levels and sickness. He said the Silver deficiency was
responsible for the improper functioning of the immune system. Dr.
Becker’s experiments conclude that Silver works on the full spectrum of
pathogens without any side effects or damage to any cells of the body,
(being tissue, and not single cells). He also states that the Silver was
doing something more than killing disease-causing organisms. It was also
causing major growth stimulation of injured tissues. Burn patients and
even elderly patients noticed more rapid healing. And he discovered that
all cancer cells change back to normal cells. All strains healing of
pathogens resistant to other antibiotics are killed by Silver. Yet at
that time he couldn’t find a silver supplement on the market.

Silver in his cancer cure method for many years. He says the whole thing
is quite simple. This brought rapid remission in patients given up by
other doctors.

– As and antibiotic, Silver kills over 650 disease-causing organisms;
resistant strains fail to develop. Silver is absolutely non-toxic. Silver
is the best all around germ-fighter we have. Doctors are reporting that,
taken internally it works against syphilis, cholera, malaria, diabetes
and severe burns. Richard L. Davies, executive director of the Silver
Institute, which monitors Silver technology in 37 countries, reports: "In
four years we’ve described 87 important new medical uses for Silver".

Medical Journal, Feb.1923. Pure Silver is entirely non-irritant. In
tests, at very high dilution rates, exceeding two-hundred-thousand to
one, it has been shown repeatedly that the rapidly exerted disinfectant
