Lift from Ginseng?

I read the other day the ginseng actually gives you a lift, not unlike that derived from coffee.  I always thought the putative benefits of ginseng were only gradually realised after longterm consumption.  Am I wrong?

I’ve been taking Ginseng for several months and have never noticed a
caffeine-type lift. I have gradually felt better though, although that may
also be attributable to the vitamin supplements I’ve also been taking.

Yes I think you were wrong. At list for me, ginseng works right away
(which does not rule out long-term effects). The most noticeable
    effect is increased sexual drive.
