Such an assessment would have to be attendant on your sensitivity to
emotional and mental patterns as well, but would essentially be undertaken in
childhood in the best of all possible worlds, and would involve looking at
your parents to see if they exhibit(ed) signs of imbalances that could be
passed on (on all three levels as well). That’s just a preliminary answer.
One caveat: "Yang" constitution types, who are very rarely ill (but tend to
become intensely ill if they do succumb to something), are very hard to treat
or diagnose to begin with. You may be in that category, and much of UC could
be in that category as well (and I’m not saying that infection is not a part
of it, since this is well in line with East-Asian Traditional Healing
theories going way back). My point was that steroidal therapies are
last-ditch efforts, and it would be better to prevent the war to begin with
if at all possible, and alternative healing methods (holistic methods) can
observe many disease trends in the embryonic stages.

What caused your back problems fifteen years ago?

This is true, but chronic constitutional impairment as it is understood in
homeopathic terms is sort of a left-field problem, something that the body or
the subjective self doesn’t effectively identify, conceive, act on, or even
acknowledge, except in the guise of one or another illness. Even so,
observation by a trained ETH or TCM practitioner might reveal a flaw in
lifestyle or a weakness of a certain functional sphere of the organism, which
might point in the direction of health modification before crisis-level drug
    medicine becomes necessary.

One other very important point. ANYONE on steroidal therapy for any reason
should be taking a well-formulated vitamin and mineral supplement, daily.
There are a host of deficiencies induced by steroid use, including many that
aren’t usually thought of as needing supplementation (histidine, for
instance). Sorry I didn’t bring this up sooner.
